Small Wonders Art Auction News

We raised an amazing £2600 from our Online Art Auction. Thank you to all the artists who donated work and also to those that bid both successfully or unsuccessfully for an original piece of art. We realise that the bidding system wasn’t perfect and some people lost out as they couldn’t see and track the competing bids, but we didn’t want the expense of paying for a digital bidding platform. Of course, if there is anyone out there who is an expert at this stuff and wants to share their skills for free, then please get in touch.
We are now working hard to make sure everyone gets their artworks before Christmas. If you are concerned about how to pay or when you will receive your work, then please contact Laura: [email protected]
Thank you again for taking part. Some of the money we have raised has already been spent on putting together 70 Christmas art and entertainment packs that will be posted to isolated older people around Wiltshire in the next couple of days. During COVID, this is just one way we have been reaching out to our community since March, along with weekly letters, phone calls, art materials and most recently group Zoom sessions. This latter initiative has been a huge undertaking for us as many of our participants have either limited or no access to the internet and are starting from scratch in their 80s and 90s. But despite the usual hitches we have all become familiar with on Zoom, it is working and causing plenty of hilarity and chaos – something we thrive on!
We now have our eyes firmly set on 2021 and like so many other individuals and organisations, we are having to be nimble, creative and constantly reacting to a changing situation. The near future does look very tough for all charities and voluntary groups but one positive aspect of this year has been the surge in community and local support – people helping each other out and starting to rebuild that social fabric that has been slowly eroded over many years.
So, we wish you the very best for 2021, and hope that your minimal seasonal celebrations are as good as they can be in the circumstances. Stay safe. Stay well. Stay connected.
