I have been a volunteer with Arts Together since 2000! It’s still the highlight of my week, the biggest laugh, the warmest circle of people and the greatest reward
Arts Together depends on a team of dedicated volunteers to help the charity function and to enable older people to take part. Volunteers come from all walks of life, but share a common commitment and passion to give of their time to the groups and the running of the project.
I have made lots of new friends and enjoy sharing the ups and downs of everyday life with them. There is a great sense of belonging in the group and I share the feelings of one member who described it as ‘like having another family’
You may only be able to spare a couple of hours a week, but will find the experience very rewarding and stimulating. Group volunteers work within a small team of like-minded people and provide essential week to week consistency and familiarity for group members.
Individual volunteering roles vary and can be designed to fit with the time you have available and the skills you may have to share. Previous experience of working with older people or of art is not required, just a desire to join in and offer support to others.
We provide professional support and hold annual training sessions and “get-together” tea parties. All expenses and travel costs are also reimbursed.
Volunteering for Arts Together has provided me with a healthy and positive boost to my self-confidence, self-esteem and all round life satisfaction
We would like you to join us. So choose how best you can share in our ambition to transform the lives of older people in Wiltshire and beyond.
